Remedial Yoga Group Class

This small group class is suitable if you are returning to yoga after an injury, recovering from an illness, after a little break, or just wanting to practice gently in a safe and supportive environment. Learn to move slowly and with awareness, in your own time – trusting yourself as you replace old patterns with new and more appropriate ones to help manage daily stresses, heal yourself and improve your quality of life. This class begins with breath awareness and ends with a guided meditation or yoga nidra. 90 minutes.

Mature Mens Yoga

This class is for (older) men to learn the benefits of yoga and to help to ease stress whilst gently working with the asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) to build strength and encourage flexibility and balance - enabling you to optimise your wellbeing and maintain your healthy, active lifestyle. These classes end with a short relaxation. 60 minutes

General Hatha

This class is suitable for most people, either those who have already spent time in a beginner’s class and/or of average fitness level, with some previous practice of yoga. A longer and slightly stronger class, sometimes holding the postures for longer periods of time, sometimes flowing. You are always encouraged to work with your breath and awareness and within your own limits. There is no competition or expectation in this class, instead you are empowered to take responsibility for your wellness.This class begins with breathing practices (pranayama) and ends with savasana and/or a guided meditation. 75 minutes.

Resorative Yoga

Often referred to as ‘active relaxation’ this class facilitates deep relaxation, which restores and renews not just the physical body, but the nervous system as well. Restorative poses have a particular ability to leave us nourished, nurtured and well rested. The postures are usually deeply supported by blankets, blocks and other props and are held for several minutes at a time, achieving subtle yet profound effects.This class is suitable for those recovering from illness, injury or seeking stress relief/improved mental health. 75 minutes.(NOTE: during Pandemic periods, this class may not be available)

Private Class

Available for individuals or groups upon request, private classes in your own home/place of business, outdoors, or at the Avalon Yoga Co-op. Whether it’s a hens weekend, a one off weekend away with your friends/loved ones - or a regular weekly commitment - please call Amanda to discuss your specific requirements and details.

Accessible Yoga / Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga makes yoga accessible to various groups, including but not limited to older people and those with disabilities, who are unable to participate in traditional yoga mat postures. Yoga poses are modified and adapted within your limits, so as to improve agility and balance, co-ordination, range of motion and flexibility, muscular strength and endurance – so as long as you have a chair, you can do it anywhere!
