What is Yoga Therapy?
- Yoga Therapy is a holistic healing approach to wellbeing that addresses specific conditions – using traditional yoga methods to support you to manage/prevent disease, reduce symptoms and maintain health and wellbeing so you are better equipped to manage the challenges of daily life.
- It is an active process (as opposed to a passive treatment), where motivation and self regulation are key to your ability to feel better within yourself. You are encouraged to take responsibility for your own healing, and empowered to create positive and sustainable change in a safe and supportive environment.
- Personally tailored practices are designed for you so you can bring yoga home. And in the studio, working as a team with your therapist, your progress is continually re-evaluated and practices adjusted to meet your evolving needs. You are free to work at your own pace, adapting and adjusting within the limits of your unique characteristics – including breathing patterns, emotions, intellect, diet, lifestyle and the muscular skeletal framework of the body – without expectation or judgement.
- Generally Yoga Therapy is approached on a one to one basis, but in certain circumstances, group therapy/remedial classes may be more beneficial.
